CRD lights up Canouan Christmas

As the Christmas season approached, Canouan Resorts Development (CRD) organized and assisted a string of events for the whole Community to enjoy.{{more}}

Festivities began on Sunday, December 12, with the Lighting of the Nativity as the Landscaping department of CCA Limited set up a display outside the police station and lit the Christmas tree with colorful lights. Father Bardowell and Reverend Garraway opened the evening with a blessing and reading, and then the performances of the evening began. A great turnout came to see the Pelican and Coral Reef Schools (children aged 3 – 11) sing a selection of Carols, and their performance was very strong. It was evident that the children and teachers had practiced very hard for the evening. The audience were then treated to a steel pan performance, before the Wells of Living Water Choir and music band sang their hearts content with some outstanding performances, both solo and group efforts, that got the community swaying to the music and singing along to the Christmas Carols.

Towards the end, members of the audience, young and old, took to the stage and entertained the crowd – it was a great start to the festive season enjoyed by all.

Pelican and Coral Reef Schools, which primarily serve the parent employees of CRD, later that week put on a drama performance of the Nativity for parents and others – the children were dressed up and did a great job, from Mary and Joseph to the barn animals.

All the school children on the island then came together on Friday, December 17, at the Canouan Government School to receive a gift from Santa and enjoy a party funded and organized by CRD limited. Special thanks to Andrea Roach, who for the most of the year works at Canouan Resort but did a great job as Santa for the day greeting children and giving them each one of the 200 presents purchased.

CRD was very pleased to also be able to assist Jocelyn Sheppard, organizer of the Senior Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 22, held at the Pan Yard. CCA Limited and Canouan Resort worked together and donated 60 gifts for the elderly and loaned tables and chairs for the event. Evelyn Peters and Shanique Glasgow who work in Housekeeping were a great help with packing the gifts and the Warehouse team for kindly assisting with transporting all items.

Now, as we begin the New Year, CRD wishes all employees, clients, and the Canouan community a happy and healthy 2011!
