Cops probing unsolved murders

Head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Willisford Caesar says investigations are continuing into the nine unsolved

homicides of the recorded 24 in 2010.{{more}}

“Police are still working to solve the nine homicidess that were not solved,” Caesar told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday afternoon.

Caesar said that the crime rate has been fluctuating over the past three years, but the police still maintain their commitment to crime fighting. There were 20 recorded homicides in 2009 and 27 in 2008.

Caesar noted that most of the instances of violence in 2010 resulted from trivial arguments and domestic disputes. He

also urged the public to exercise as much restraint as possible when confronted with an argument.

“It is always best to try to avoid confrontation, but if you can’t, call the police,” Caesar urged.

Caesar noted that in 2009-2010, there was a significant number of crime relating to theft of agricultural produce and animals.

Caesar said during the latter part of the last quarter of

last year, burglaries and robberies were quite prevalent.

He also said computers and other expensive electronics

were the main target of the burglars.

This country recorded its highest murder toll in 2007, with a staggering 36.(KW)
