Bequia Reading Competition slated for this Sunday


Fourteen students from the Grenadine Island of Bequia will participate in this year’s finals of the Bequia Reading Competition on Sunday, December 5.{{more}}

They will compete in three categories, 7-8 years old; 9-10 and 11-12 years old. In the 7-8 age group, four schools will be represented in Hannah Ince, Paradise Primary School, Janiah Ollivierre – Paget Farm Government School; Krishauna Lewis – Bequia Anglican Primary School and Gabriella Gurley of the Bequia Seventh Day Adventist Primary School.

Four competitors will compete in the 9 – 10 age group. They are: Tamara Woodley -The Paradise Primary School; Roella Bynoe- Paget Farm Government School; Melodie Hercules -Bequia Anglican Primary School and Sharayah John -Bequia Seventh Day Adventist Primary School.

In the 11 – 12 age group, the contestants are Ebony Arrindell – Paradise Primary School; Kenelia Stowe – Paget Farm Government School; Loulanna Bynoe – Bequia Community High School; Delanna Leonard – Bequia Anglican Primary School; Spencer Nero- Bequia Seventh Day Adventist Primary School and Kisma Belmar of the Bequia Seventh Day Adventist Primary School.

The event will be held at the Rotary Center at Lower Bay commencing at 12:30 pm. This year, there will be no preliminary round. It’s the second year running that the Bequia Reading Club is organizing the competition. Reading Club Coordinator Cheryl Johnson says she is expecting an even higher standard than when the competition was held for the first time last year.
