Dabreo, a 40-year-old tradesman, traveled to Grenada on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, to undergo Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans to ascertain the cause for the paralysis in his legs. The MRI scans were done at the Spice Isle Imagine Centre in Grenada.

Dabreo, who is from Carriere, injured his back when he fell from a four foot high wall on July 4, 2010, and has been a patient of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital(MCMH) ever since. He is immobile from the waist down and is wheelchair bound.

Nigel Moran, Managing Director of the Interior Zone Literacy Organization (INZLO), who organized sponsors on Dabreo’s behalf, stated that they decided to assist Dabreo as his sister was a part of the organization, and one of the objectives of his organization is to offer medical support to families.

Dabreo’s sister expressed gratitude to INZLO for their assistance, adding that she is happy that he is closer to having his injury repaired.

Morgan stated that the results of the MRI scans will determine whether or not surgery will be required. He added that a neurologist is expected to further examine Dabreo. Dabreo is still a patient at the MCMH.

INZLO, on behalf of Dabreo’s family, expressed thanks to the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the MCMH, and other friends and family who made the trip to Grenada possible.

INZLO is a non profit volunteer organisation which arose out of the need to assist Vincentians struggling with poverty and unemployment. It was launched on September 25, 2007.
