Venezuelans visiting for Independence

A group of cultural artistes from the Jose Antonio Sagrestaa Foundation from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will be visiting St. Vincent and the Grenadines from October 26 to 30, 2010, to participate in the St. Vincent and the Grenadines 31st Anniversary of Independence celebrations.{{more}}

The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, through the Venezuela Institute for Culture and Cooperation and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Social Investment Fund will be organizing a series of “Exchange of Knowledge” activities with the Venezuelan and local artistes. These activities will provide opportunities for our local drummers and dancers to interact with their Venezuelan counterparts, at sessions planned for Thursday, October 28 from 2:00 pm at the Sandy Bay Primary School and at the Rosebank Community Centre on Friday, October 29, from 2:00 p.m.

On Thursday, October 28, residents of the North Windward Communities and surrounding areas will have an opportunity to enjoy live performances from the Jose Antonio Sagrestaa Foundation Artistes and a host of local Artistes including the Georgetown Community Steel Orchestra, NDRACDO, Tadjoe, Georgetown Creative Dancers and Sandy Bay Dancers at a cultural rally at the Sandy Bay Primary School.

On Friday, October 29, residents of the North Leeward Communities and surrounding areas will have their opportunity to enjoy live performances from the Jose Antonio Sagrestaa Foundation Artistes and a host of local Artists including the North Star Steel Orchestra, Rose Bank Bum Drum, Rose Hall Cultural Development Organisation Drummers, Chateaubelair and Calliaqua Police Youth Clubs, Rose Bank Young Leaders and others. This Rally will be held at the Rose Bank Hard Court.

Both Rallies will commence at 5:00pm and will be absolutely free. An invitation is extended to all persons in the area to come and enjoy an evening of rich Venezuelan and Vincentian Culture.

The Venezuelan Group will also be making a major presentation at the Peace Memorial Hall on Wednesday, October 27 from 7:30 p.m.
