Miguel said when she was Headteacher of the Sion Hill Government School, she realized that some children were coming to school without having breakfast. She said when she realized what was happening, she sat with DeNobriga, the manager of the Arnos Vale branch of the supermarket, and put in place a breakfast programme at the school.

Miguel, who is the parliamentary representative for Marriaqua, was speaking on Sunday, October 24, at a public meeting of the Unity Labour Party (ULP) at Walvaroo, in the East Kingstown Constituency, not far from the Sion Hill Government School.

“I said to the parents at the PTA. Whenever you don’t have anything to give the children, send me a message. We have a breakfast programme and the school is going to take care of them. And that was what we did,” Miguel said.
