Apostolic Faith Mission Bequia repeats as SVG Bible Festival Champions

The Apostolic Faith Mission, Bequia proved once again that they are the dominant force when it comes to Bible quizzes in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The final, held at the Faith Temple Church in New Montrose on Sunday October 17, saw five churches participating in six rounds of Bible quizzes and impromptu speech.

The participating churches were Apostolic Faith Mission, Bequia, Faith Temple Church, Full in the Spirit Pentecostal Church, Vermont Miracle Tabernacle, Wesleyan Holiness Church, Georgetown.

These churches advanced from the preliminary round of the festival. For the final the participants were quizzed on the following areas: General knowledge; Who was Jesus talking to; Finish this verse; What does the Bible say about….; Bible Study – the book of Ephesians.

The impromptu speech category was an innovation added this year to encourage participants to be able to speak and defend their faith ‘on their feet’. Persons picked a random topic on a social or religious issue from a bag and had two minutes to speak on it.

At the end of the night, Apostolic Faith Mission strongly defended the title they had won when the festival was inaugurated in 2009. The final results showed: Apostolic Faith Mission, Bequia – 92 points; Wesleyan Holiness Church, Georgetown – 44 points; Faith Temple Church – 36 points; Full in the Spirit Pentecostal Church – 26 points; Vermont Miracle Tabernacle – 20 points.

Shirlon Ragguette of the Apostolic Faith Mission Bequia was again the most outstanding participant as in 2009, with Ava Patrick of the Wesleyan Holiness Church Georgetown speaking on the topic “If God is love why is there so much suffering in the world?” winning the most outstanding speech.

The winners received trophies and prizes compliments: Total Inspiration 100.5, the SVG Gospel Fest Committee, Premier Distributors and Randy’s Supermarket.

The SVG Bible Festival introduced in 2009 was this year sponsored by Total Inspiration 100.5 and held under the theme “Wisdom through the Word of God”. The festival was developed by the SVG Gospel Fest Committee to promote increased knowledge and a much greater understanding of the Bible as well as to increase the frequency, variety and quality of Christian activities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
