API to host Independence Photography Competition
As part of activities to celebrate St. Vincent and the Grenadinesâ 31st anniversary of Independence, the Agency for Public Information (API) will host its third photography competition for amateur photographers.{{more}}
The competition is open to persons who do not use photography as their main source of income; do not have more than five years experience in photography; and have not received training in photography.
The objectives of the API Photography competition are: To foster appreciation for physical, cultural and historical features of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; to establish an avenue for harnessing and exposing Vincentiansâ interest and talent in photography; and to demonstrate the use of photography as a communication tool.
The theme of the competition is âYurumein Land so Beautifulâ. Photographs will be judged in four categories including Nature, Architecture, People and Culture, and Humour. Photographs must capture the life, beauty, culture, history and humour of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The APIâs Independence Photography competition is currently open to the public and the deadline for submitting photographs is Friday, October 29, 2010.
Prizes will be awarded for outstanding photographs.
Persons interested in participating in this yearâs competition can obtain submission forms and further details from the APIâs office, opposite the General Post Office in Kingstown.
