This week’s winner, Petrouchka Hills, beat the two other participants, Valery Williams and Glenlyn Weekes, to take the top prize of an EC$500 shopping spree at any two of Aunt Jobe’s locations.

Last Wednesday, the Supermarket Sweep Promotion moved from Aunt Jobe’s Stoney Grounds to the supermarket’s second and newer location at Arnos Vale.

Hills, Williams and Weekes were given a trolley each and three minutes to place 20 items or more in their shopping cart. The person whose 20 or more items came the closest to EC$700 would win the EC$500 shopping spree. The rules changed slightly from the last run, which saw participants aiming for 20 or more items adding up to EC$600. A new rule was also added stating that any person who went over the EC$700 mark would be disqualified.

Hills had exactly 26 items amounting to EC$665.30, Williams had 27 items amounting to EC$526.52 while Weeke’s 33 items came to EC$709.33.

Hills who said that she did not eat lunch on Wednesday also revealed: “I was not expecting to win EC$500 shopping spree when the week started so I am very excited”. The lucky lady said that she may have gained an advantage over the other contestants as her job as a Price Control Officer with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade sends her to Aunt Jobe’s regularly to do price checks.

“We go around every Monday to the Aunt Jobe’s Supermarket in Stoney Grounds and take down prices so I have memorized the prices of certain things”, smiled Hills, who boasts of being with Digicel “since they started”. She added that Digicel’s service is very good and she has never had any complaints.

On Wednesday, September 8, Lawyer Carla James became the first winner of the EC$500 shopping spree compliments Digicel and Aunt Jobe’s Supermarket, while last Wednesday, September 15, saw Businessman Rudy Bailey taking the top spot.

Last Wednesday’s Digicel Aunt Jobe’s Supermarket Sweep Promotion was the third of nine shopping sprees that will be held every Wednesday at Aunt Jobe’s. Persons are entered in the competition by paying their post paid bill on time or topping up EC$20 or more. Giving the rules of the competition for future competitors, Marketing Executive at Digicel Justin John said that the use of calculators is strictly prohibited, while he stressed that the items that are picked up do not belong to the competitors. The event was also witnessed by Digicel’s Marketing Manager Juno DeRoche, Dealer Accounting Executive Fanta Willliams and Supervisor at Aunt Jobe’s Mesi Harrington.

The next shopping spree takes place on Wednesday, September 29th. Second and third place winners are given EC$100 credit on their prepaid or post paid phones.
