Monday’s activity, in the form of a Rally, marked the culmination of five days of activities which included zonal rallies and a prayer breakfast involving politicians and other government officials which all led up to the big event at Heritage Square.

This year’s event was held under the theme ‘Prayer – For such a time as this’.

And the challenge that has been put out to Vincentians is that they ought to continue to show love to their neighbor.
The challenge was put out by Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves as he delivered his address at the Rally.

“What is required of us is that we must show mercy and we must walk humbly with our Lord, but above all law is that we are to love our neighbor,” PM Gonsalves said.

He described the event as a significant one, in light of some persons who may have differing opinions on the importance of the National Day of Prayer.

But perhaps the highlight of last week’s Rally was the message delivered by Pastor Carmalie Daniel who shared with the nation what she termed the six ingredients for nation building.

According to Daniel, the future of the country rested in the hands of the church.

“The church is the cream of any society, although she has been ridiculed and criticized, but it is the backbone of every society,” Daniel said.

Last Monday’s event also heard addresses from Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace, Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs Selmon Walters, and pastors representing various churches. (
