The process to increase the number of constituencies in St. Vincent and the Grenadines from 15 to 17 has moved a step further.{{more}}

This with the announcement by Dr Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister and leader of the Unity Labour Party (ULP), last Sunday, of the submission to the Governor General of the name of Lawyer Arthur Williams as the government’s representative on the Boundaries Commission.

It is now up to Eustace to make his submission, and according to PM Gonsalves, even if this is not done, it does not mean the three person commission cannot meet as the Governor General has authority to appoint a chairman as he sees fit.

“The Boundaries Commission is required under the constitution to proceed with its work fast,” Dr Gonsalves explained.

Gonsalves’ announcement was made at the ULP’s 9th anniversary celebrations rally held at Rabacca on the north eastern coast of St. Vincent.

Once the Boundaries Commission submits its report to the Electoral Office, the amendments and recommendations will then be enacted accordingly.

“And when that has taken place, any number can play,” the Prime Minister said.

“We are going to be ready to take this country again and to win the election bigger than the last time.”
