‘Small Changes’ to make a ‘Big Difference’: Says PBSS Young Leaders

The members of the Petit Bordel Secondary School (PBSS) Young Leaders and the entire school body saw it a necessity to get on board the ‘Wellness revolution”.{{more}}

The group has extended its programme to the communities around Petit Bordel and is seeking to work along with the parents of the students of the Petit Bordel Secondary School through sensitization programmes that seek to facilitate behavioural changes, which will lead to a healthy life style.

PBSS Young Leaders is therefore carrying out a program of activities which is specifically geared towards promoting holistic wellness.

All activities are centred on the theme:

“Eat healthy, Live active, Make a difference for a brighter tomorrow”.

For the group, to “live active” means that an individual should always seek to create a balance in physical, spiritual, emotional and social activities. In addition, the term incorporates the idea of self-management.

A Lack of any of these aspects of wellness can cause a break down in society and home life.

The following is a schedule of events for March 2010:

> Every Monday: Spiritual development

> Every Wednesday- Fruit day

> Tuesday 16th(official launching).

Venue: school

> Seminar – Wednesday 17th

“Emotional and Psychological Wellness”- Ms.Eugena Charles (school’s Psychologist),

Time: 3:00-4:00 pm

Venue: school (the general public is invited).

> Workshop – Friday 19th The Nutritional aspect of Physical Wellness by Mrs. Cordelia Gibson (Nutritionist),

Time: 2:30 – 4:00 pm

Venue: school (the general public is invited).

> Wednesday 23rd: Food basket distribution to the elderly in the community.

> Fitness club (teachers, students and the wider community)

Time: 3:15
