Vincentians: Jehann Jack, Alison Phills and Med Williams led the Children’s Library Hour at the Charles Halbert Public Library in Basseterre on Saturday, October 24. Approximately 65 children attended the event to learn about the heritage and culture of St Vincent and the Grenadines. The programme of activities comprised historical review, photographic board, story, colouring and written quiz. Tokens and souvenirs were awarded to the children with the best colourings (aged 5-7) and the first three who provided correct responses to the quiz (aged 8+).

Approximately 30 Vincentians attended the Independence Church Service at the Basseterre Church of Christ on Sunday, 25th October. The sermon was delivered by Vincentian evangelist Cuthbert Cumberbatch, who ministers at the Mount Lily Church of Christ in Nevis.

On Independence Day, Vincentians employed at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) along with other Vincentians residing in St Kitts and the rest of the ECCB staff assembled on the Bank’s compound in Bird Rock, Basseterre, for a Flag Raising Ceremony.

An exhibition of products donated by Eastern Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC), Erica’s Country Style, Montaque Products and Mountain Top Springs along with a slide show of scenic photographs and craft items from local artisans, including Norris Peters of Norris Naturals and Rowland “Scrapie” Dopwell, was mounted in the lobbies of the two ECCB main buildings. In addition, DVDs on various aspects of the Vincentian culture were shown in the Bank’s cafeteria during the lunch period on Independence Day.

The week of activities ended with a BBQ, Fun n’ Games Evening in collaboration with ECCB Staff Association on Friday, October 30, and a Beach Lime at Cockleshell Beach on Saturday, October 31.
