The joy came as employees of the communications company journeyed to the village to take part in Owia’s Fish Festival, which was held at the new fishing facility. As part of the company’s continued efforts to give something back to the various communities, staff members made sure that a number of children got to play in a bouncing castle and enjoyed snacks in the form of cotton candy and popcorn. Digicel also distributed school supplies that included book bags, notebooks and exercise books for the children. The parents were not left out as the telecommunications company provided “Double Top Up”, in which credit bought was doubled.

“We are very grateful for the school supplies and the top up,” said one parent, while another commented: “the children are really enjoying the bouncing castle.”

Marketing Manager Juno De Roche said that Digicel is quite pleased with the outcome of the event.

“We saw how appreciative the persons who attended were and we are glad that we could bring some fun into Owia,” said Marketing Manager DeRoche who said that residents of Fancy are inquiring about the possibility of staging such an event in their village.

“This is our way of giving back to the community and saying thank you to our loyal customers who have supported us over the last six years. we just want to tell them that we appreciate their support,” said DeRoche.

This is the fifth Fist Fest that Digicel has supported. The other four were held in Barrouallie (two times), Calliaqua and Georgetown.
