Calliaqua Anglican School students floored by facelift

On Monday morning, 7th September, 2009, the first day of the new school year 2008-2009, Headteacher, staff, parents and pupils of the Calliaqua Anglican School expressed awe and wonder as they walked into the school’s auditorium for General Assembly.{{more}}

This was due to the fact that the entire stage area was given a facelift with the installation of polished blue and white floral ceramic tiles.

The school had never before seen such luxury. The project was initiated by Deputy Headteacher and longstanding teacher, Merle Bailey and facilitated by the Rev. Father Ulric and Mrs. Marilyn Jones who are former teachers, students of the school and residents of Calliaqua. The financial cost of the project amounts to approximately $4000.

Mrs. Jones praised the school’s Headteacher for a vision that has come to fruition and she also encouraged the pupils to be respectful, disciplined in their schoolwork and to become the best they can in life.

Father Jones prayed for the students, teachers and parents and wished all well for the new school year. In addition, Father and Mrs. Jones donated $500 to assist the school in its varied needs. He also stated that whatever he and his wife did and continue to do is in thanksgiving to Almighty God for the benefits they have received from His hand, in particular at the Calliaqua Anglican School where they started out in their academic field.

Headteacher Yvette Bowen thanked the Joneses for their generous donation, and is now looking forward to having other generous donors step forward to assist in having the entire floor of the auditorium tiled by the end of the new school term.
