Community College reveals strict rules

So says Dr. Joel Warrican, Director of the St.Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC).

Last Wednesday morning, while delivering an address at the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies general assembly, Warrican told the students they can get success by attending classes regularly.

He said the institution is going to be very strict on the issue of attendance.

“You can get success also by endeavouring to be punctual. Habitual late comers will not only miss vital information, but they can disrupt others with their late arrival,” Warrican chided.

“I need to stress that if you are habitually late and it has been deemed that you have missed enough to be considered irregular in attendance and not attended 90 per cent of class time, you will also be debarred from writing examinations,” Warrican warned.

He advised the students that success requires that they produce work that they can be proud of.

The director warned that the college will not accept any smoking on the compound, or use of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs or weapons. He also warned that the institution will not accept gambling on the compound.

He told the students that they are representatives of the institution.

“Do you provide the community to speak demeaning things about you? If your skirt is too short or too tight or your pants are too tight or too baggy, you are holding up your institution to shame and ridicule,” said Warrican. He warned the students that if they do not comply with the dress code of the institution, they will not allowed to be a part of the institution. (HN)
