Port signs agreement


On Monday, May 4, 2009, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority signed on to phase two of Grenadines Wharf Repair Project as part of its ongoing Maintenance Program for mainland St. Vincent and the Grenadines.{{more}}

A contract valued at EC $261,367.40 was signed between Sea Operations SVG Ltd. and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority. The duration of the contract period will be for three months and repair work commenced on June 2, 2009. The scope of work for this project entails repairs to the damaged section of the Grenadines Wharf, Kingstown.

Work carried out during phase one was done to repair the main jetty and wharf at Port Elizabeth Bequia in 2008. The cost for phase one amounted to EC$ 295, 653.40.

Present at signing of the contract were Director of Sea Operations SVG Ltd., Errol Sutherland, Port Manager, Paul Kirby, and Civil Works Supervisor of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority, Lenski Douglas.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority is also carrying out repairs and maintenance work on the sea-based Navigational Aids in the Southern Grenadines in an effort ensure continued marine safety for yachts and the inter-island ferries.
