To this end, a Fisheries Investment Forum is being organized by the National Investment Promotions Inc., St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Investment Promotions Agency.

The Investment Forum, which will be held on July 9th, 2009, at the Methodist Church Hall, aims to promote several non-traditional investment opportunities in the fish industry. Participants will be potential investors who are interested in better harvesting technologies, as well as persons wishing to expand and develop fish products for the local and external markets.

The Forum comes on the heels of the Government’s introduction of its EC$6 million Fishing Industry Fleet Expansion Programme. This programme aims to transform the fisheries sector into a sustainable and socially valued industry.

Through this programme, fisher folk are able to purchase more sophisticated vessels, which would enable the growth and expansion of their businesses.

A fuller understanding of this programme and the opportunities and current trends in the fishing industry can be gained at the upcoming Fisheries Investment Forum.
