Cool Riderz donates food basket to 83-year-old woman

On Saturday, 30th May, members of the Cool Riderz Motorcycle club travelled to Georgetown, where they delivered their monthly food basket to Emiline Sandy, an 83-year-old resident of Chapmans. The presentation was witnessed by Alfred Martin, of Mt Bentinck, who is her caretaker.{{more}}

The gesture on the part of the club members was applauded by the family who thanked the group for their effort and for caring for those members of the community who need their support. Staff Nurses Theckla Jack-Billingy and Ophelia Myall, who identified Sandy as the worthy recipient, witnessed the presentation.

The club members used the opportunity to conduct the monthly community health service. Counseling and advice were given to the residents on varying health issues. Blood glucose and blood pressure assessments were done. Of those residents who participated in the health programme, six were referred to the District Nurse for follow up care.

The general public is constantly bombarded with information on the importance of maintaining good health. Special emphasis is placed on prevention and management of conditions. The Cool Riders Motorcycle club entreats persons to act responsibly and take charge of their own health. Self care is the best defense against illnesses and their complications.
