Afrikan Heritage Foundation donates books to children’s ward

In recognition of African Liberation Day, the Afrikan Heritage Foundation donated several children’s books to the pediatric ward of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. On Saturday 23rd May, members of the organisation visited the ward and handed over the books to the nurses on duty.{{more}} They also spent some time on the ward reading to the children and encouraging the parents there to do the same. Many of the children were very excited about this treat and sat attentively as they were read to.

All of the books donated, written by Black authors, accommodate children ranging in age from three to twelve years old. Some of the children indicated that they were happy to read books that had pictures of children who looked like them. Registered nurse, Ann Cyrus, thanked the group for the donation and for spending time with the children. She also requested that the group make regular visits to the ward to read to the children.
