Chairman of the planning committee, Kenyatta Lewis said that the National Day of Prayer is a time for Vincentians to pray for everything affecting the nation, including the economy, national security, the youth and wisdom for leaders both civil and religious.

He made an appeal to churches across the country to open their doors from 6am to 6pm for persons who wish to pray during the day.

Lewis also called on the business community to facilitate workers wishing to pray on that day.

Lewis said that the activities for the day will include prayer on local radio stations, visits to schools by pastors and church leaders and a midday service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kingstown.

A prayer rally will be held under the almond trees in Bequia on Friday June 6th. On June 8th a rally will be held at Heritage Square in Kingstown, Barrouallie and Georgetown.

The National Day of Prayer committee is also inviting everyone ‘of faith’ to attend the rally closest to them.

Minister with responsibility for Ecclesiastical Affairs Selmon Walters said that in the future every 2nd Monday in June will be marked as the National Day of Prayer in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The Minister is calling on all Vincentians and church organizations to be a part of the upcoming event. (API)
