Rehabilation work set to begin on Union Island Airport

The Government has announced that rehabilitation work on the Union Island Airport will begin on May 2nd, 2009.{{more}}

A contract has been signed between the government and the company, CCA Limited, in the sum of EC4.5 million dollars, to facilitate the rehabilitation work.

This will include the re-surfacing of the runway, taxi way and apron, as well as work on the sea defence facilities.

As a result of this, the Union Island Airport will be closed for approximately two weeks.

The Ministry responsible for Airports has said that this rehabilitation is part of the effort to enhance air travel to and from that Grenadine Island, along with improving the quality of service at that airport.

The Ministry is requesting the cooperation of operators and other users of the Union Island airport during the rehabilitation period.
