The promotion entitled “Courts Customer Celebration” runs from Saturday, April 11th, to Thursday, May 21st, and will have activities scheduled each week to sensitize Courts customers about the importance of healthy lifestyles.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, 14th April, 2009, at the Courts conference room, Marketing Executive of Courts St. Vincent Alexis John outlined the promotion’s goal: “We are ensuring that our customers live healthy lifestyles,” he said.

John went on to mention that healthy lifestyles also promote a sound economy. “If persons do not eat well…our population will reduce, hence we will suffer from an economic standpoint,” he said. “We want to prolong the life of our many valued customers… also we want to keep them shopping,” he added.

The organizations involved in the promotion include the Ministry of Health, the Nutrition Unit and Blood Bank Unit, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cancer Society, the Ministry of Sports, Mountain Top Springs Ltd and Villa Mar Ltd. Customers will be given vital information and will be treated to food samples, all while experiencing a display shopping atmosphere of “great brands at great prices,” according to OECS Purchasing Manager at Courts, Lisa Veira.

Veira, who stated that persons may be shy about spending money because of the harsh economic climate, said that Courts has made it easier by offering various discounts to customers. Some of the specials include a ten per cent discount off all gym equipment and a chance to win a free purchase at the end of the promotion. Veira added that Courts is offering a range of items and brands, catering for higher end customers, as well as the average customers.

Representatives of the different businesses present at the press conference all commended Courts on their initiative to promote healthy lifestyles to its customers, and spoke of future partnerships to promote the efforts of the respective organizations.

Courts will have activities on every day of the week during the promotion period. Mondays, will be assigned to the Ministry of Sports, which will educate customers on the importance of exercise, on Tuesdays the SVG Cancer Society will be engaged in informing persons about cancer and how to prevent it. The local blood bank will be on hand on Wednesdays to receive blood donations from willing persons, and on Fridays, customers will receive information on nutrition from the Nutrition Unit as well as food samples from Villa Mar Ltd. All activities will run from around 11:30 am to 1pm.(OS)
