The Centre for Enterprise Development Business Gateway Project, in collaboration with the Go Group, a Scottish Business Development Service Provider, is currently involved in two Competency Based Training (CBT) programmes geared towards a core of business advisors and assessors gaining accreditation here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The accreditation is the first of its kind to be held in this country.{{more}}

The CBT programme takes place in 2 phases. Phase 1 took place last week with a 2-day training for four assessors leading towards the Scottish Qualifications Authority Unit 1A-Assessing Candidates Using a Range of Methods and a 9-day training for 14 advisors leading to accreditation in ILM Level 5 Certificate in Business Support. Phase 2 will see participants putting together their portfolios of evidence to support their work.

Both programmes aim at ensuring that individuals working in providing business support develop a broad range of skills, knowledge and understanding that would enable them to provide quality advice in a consistent manner, having identified the critical areas of support that the businesses need.

The completion of this training will not only see business advisors here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines become the first to gain accreditation in the region but will also see the Centre for Enterprise Development Inc. become one of the first ILM Approved Centres outside of the UK to offer the Level 5 Certificate in Business Support.

The training is being facilitated by a team of consultants including Lesley Meechan and Jillian Simpson from the Go group along with local consultants, Monica Thomas Woodley, Dr. Julian Ferdinand and Yvette Barnwell-Wickham.
