SVG Gospel Fest begins at Victoria Park


Everything is in place for the grand opening of SVG Gospel Fest 2009. The gospel festival, which is into its seventh year, will be officially opened this Saturday night at the Victoria Park{{more}}

The program dubbed “Rejoice” will feature an evening of rejoicing in song and dance. Scheduled to appear will be the most outstanding performers from the 2008 festival, including KLT Dancers, Holirem Dramatists, New Generation Gospel Band, Caywama Edwards, Ziana Duncan and Clement Fergus.

Addresses will come from committee members and corporate sponsors, with Minister of Culture the Hon. Rene Baptiste officially declaring the Festival open.

A number of regional and international artistes are also down to appear. These include international evangelist Larry Orrell of the United States, Ijeal Joseph of Grenada and The Miraclettes of Barbados, with exciting singing and dancing.

With close to 400 entries from 96 churches and almost 1,400 participants in 2008, SVG Gospel Fest has rapidly become a major event on the national calendar. 2009 is expected to see continued expansion in the Festival, as local gospel artistes use the opportunity to showcase their diverse talents.

SVG Gospel Fest 2009 is being held under the theme: “Rejoice in the Lord”.
