Last week, it was the turn of the Rotary Club of St. Vincent South, which presented the men with plaques of appreciation for their work with the club and their International Hospital for Children project.

At a brief ceremony last Friday at the Orchid restaurant in Kingstown, the Rotary Club South made clear their intention to make another bid to have Daniel and Butcher’s eight day walk without sleep entered into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The men performed the feat last summer, walking around the 585-acre Prospect Park in New York, in an effort to raise funds to build a children’s hospital here. The event was dubbed the Million Dollar Walk.

Local co-ordinator of the walk, E. Bernard John, at the ceremony, indicated the documents to be submitted to the Guinness World Records committee include a letter of recommendation and a DVD.

On Monday, Daniel returned to Montreal, Canada, where he had lived previously, before a ten-year stint here in his homeland. (JJ)
