Well wishers and supporters of the Unity Labor Party turned out in the droves, to celebrate the first anniversary of the party’s radio station Star Radio.{{more}}

The station, which got on the airwaves on February 26th 2008, received a name change at the cocktail which took place at Murray Heights Hotel to mark the occasion.

Minister of Transportation and Works, and General Secretary of the ULP Julian Francis indicated that the radio station would now be called Star Radio, removing FM from the official title.

Francis said that the station is expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming general elections, which may take place here within the next 12 to 18 months.

The leadership, board of directors, management and staff of the radio station was commended by Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, who said that over the last 12 months, the nation had witnessed the birth, growth and development of a quality radio station.

Gonsalves hailed Star Radio as an uplifiting station with a difference that has found a niche for not only ULP supporters, but a broad mass of Vincentians.

Star Radio boasts a number of programmes, including musical selections, informative and educational programmes as well as political commentary.
