The achievement of 50 years is not an easy one for the government and people of Cuba as they had to struggle amidst a very hostile environment of negatives to the effect that the Revolution was temporary, and very early predictions that it would eventually come to end.

Today, history has taught us that the Cuban Revolution is here to stay despite the many vicious attacks that have been levied on it by those who take delight in wishing to see it come to an end. Despite the harsh economic blockade imposed on it by the US government and its allies, the Cuban people have struggled to maintain their dignity, sovereignty and independence.

Cuba has since then become a “Beacon of Hope” for the people of Africa, Asia, and the Americans, right here in the Caribbean in the areas of education, with numerous academic scholarships, in health with trained doctors and nurses who have lent their expertise to those regions, and also social and economic development.

The SVG-Cuba Friendship, therefore, calls for an end to the injustices meted out to the Cuban people and joins the rest of the progressive world in celebrating with the Cuban people on this the fiftieth Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

LONG LIVE THE CUBAN REVOLUTION!
