A total of fifty food bags were handed over to members of the society to aid in their dietary needs. The bags were stocked with necessary groceries, including rice, flour and milk.

The presentation, a joint effort of the NSPD and the Social Investment Fund, is a part of their current project entitled: Interim Dietary and other material Support to the Specially Vulnerable Groups.

The project’s aim is to provide vulnerable groups such as the disabled with provisions to help sustain a healthy diet.

Speaking to Searchlight, president of the NSPD Patricia Cumberbatch said that most disabled persons in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are unemployed and indicated that the presentation of the food packages would help them to maintain a proper diet.

The project, which has an overall cost EC$42,500, includes support to other groups such as the Salvation Army, the Mental Health Institution and the street people and the Elderly.
