Mofford beat the other seven contestants in the pageant put on by the Youths of Bottom Roseau Community Group.

Appearing as Miss Falls of Baleine, Mofford made the best of her time on stage last week Friday, Boxing Day, at the Peace Memorial Hall, as she gave the appreciative audience a detailed background of one of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ places of interest.

An elated Mofford said that she was feeling good at being crowned, and that her tears at the announcement were more tears of joy.

“I trained very hard and had a lot of confidence in myself”, said Mofford, a Grade six student of the CW Prescod Primary School.

But despite being at the tender age, Mofford has eyes set on other pageants and is not ruling out participation in the Miss SVG Beauty Pageant, when she attains the qualifying age.

But for now, she is taking the new found success in stride, but is mainly concentrating on being successful at the Common Entrance Examinations set for May.

Placing second was Taylor Woodley, who appeared as Miss Black Point. She was also the winner of the Best Sportswear segment.

Taking the third position was Tame-cier Johnson, Miss Rabacca Dry River.

Johnson won the Best Talent segment.

Also appearing were Andra Harry as Miss Botanic Gardens, Cathleen Baptiste as Miss La Soufriere, Castopher Williams as Miss Chatoyer, Crystal Abraham, who represented Trinity Falls, and Elisa Williams, as Miss Owia Salt Pond. They all gave a good account of themselves.

And according to chief organizer of the pageant, Ioka Bramble: “They are all queens”.

Bramble, the head of the newly formed group, said that she was looking ahead to staging a Miss Big and Beautiful or a Miss Granny Show, as her organization endeavours to build a positive image of Bottom Roseau, Sion Hill. (RT)
