A former Medical Director has been appointed Chairman of the National Commercial Bank (NCB).{{more}}

Dr. Timothy Providence attended his first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bank on Tuesday, December 2nd. He replaces former Chairman businessman Desmond Morgan who has been tipped to head up the proposed Roads, Buildings and General Services Authority, set to come on stream in July 2009.

Providence, a prominent gynaecologist and obstetrician, retired from the public service in 2005. He leads a nine-member board which also includes retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Leopold Stoddard, Insurance Executive Winston Venner, former Accountant General Evelyn Jackson, Budget Director Edmond Jackson, businessman Liley Cato, former Deputy Governor of East Caribbean Central Bank Errol Allen, Actuary Judith Veira and Agriculturalist Godwin Daniel.

The National Commercial Bank recorded a record profit of EC$15.8 million in 2008, the highest in the 30-year existence of the Bank.
