Although she hasn’t yet decided what she is going to do with her winnings, Kathleen Ollivierre feels that she is most deserving of the $60,000 she won from the National Lotteries Authority (NLA).{{more}}

While receiving her cheque at the NLA Conference Room on Thursday, July 3, Ollivierre said that the winning numbers were from a Quick Pick (randomly computer generated numbers) from the Bay Shore Mall in Bequia.

Although initially in disbelief, Ollivierre said she received confirmation that she had won when she heard the numbers being announced on the radio. “I think I deserve it became I have been playing Lotto from inception,” she said.

The smiling Ollivierre stated that she always feels that if she doesn’t play the game, she would lose her chance at winning.

Also on hand to collect their prizes were the Carnival Cash craze winners. Jennifer Rodney is the winner of a cash prize of $5000. The Georgetown resident said that she doesn’t have any immediate plans for her money. Second prize winner Shirlan Rodney collected $3000. Third prize winner was Dennica Samuel who received $1000. Consolation prize winner Marjorie Gordon received $200.

Product Development Officer of the NLA Anthony Dennie said that NLA played a pivotal role in the 2008 Carnival and they are quite pleased with outcome.

General Manager McGregor Sealy said that it is a pleasure for him to hand over the cheque to Ollivierre.

“It is the first time in a long time that someone from the Grenadines has won the lottery”, Sealey said. He thanked the public for continued support of the games and believes that with their continued support, the NLA would have record sales again this year. Sealy also used the opportunity to call on the last jackpot winner to come forward to collect their prize money. (VM)
