VINLEC to host fourth annual Power Tour



One-hundred and sixty Secondary school students from five schools will learn about the role and operations of the local electricity company, St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC), when they participate in the Company’s fourth annual summer outreach programme- VINLEC Power Tours VP Tours) from July 17th.{{more}}

The programme is being conducted in keeping with the Company’s commitment to developing the minds of youths through educational programmes and activities. VP Tours has been designed to enrich the lives of young people and bridge the gap between theory and practical.

This year’s programme will seek to give students insight into VINLEC’s role in the economy, inform about energy conservation and renewable sources of energy, educate on how electricity is produced and distributed and teach participants how to work with electricity safely.

The students will be engaged in a classroom session for one and a half hours and participate in field tours at the Cane Hall Complex and Power Station.

The participating schools are Thomas Saunders Secondary, Mountain View Adventist Academy, Petit Bordel Secondary, Georgetown Secondary and Bequia SDA Secondary. Each school will participate in a one-day session over the five week five-week period from July 17th – August 4th.
