Roy Ralph laid to rest


Last Thursday, June 26, the Kingstown Methodist Church was bursting at its seams with family members, well wishers, featured speakers and other dignitaries.

However, it was not another of the many graduations that take place around this time, but another farewell of sorts, as hundreds of people paid their final respects to Carnival legend Roy Ralph.{{more}}

Ralph passed away suddenly on Monday, 16th June, at his home in Sion Hill.

The mas icon, who founded the Dragons mas organization in 1966, was laid to rest at the Kingstown ceremony, after a funeral service which heard presentations and addresses from cultural, spiritual and government officials at a very emotional service.

The multiple King of the Bands and

Band of the Year winner will be immortalized in Carnival, with the 2009 and beyond King of the Bands award named in his honour.
