Natasha Anderson is new President of VINSA Jamaica



New President of the Vincentian Student Association (VINSA), Jamaica, Natasha Anderson, is promising to lead the student body with a clear and strong vision that will take the organization to the next level during the academic year 2008-2009.{{more}}

The final year Mona Campus, University of the West Indies (UWI) student, who has served on several other organizations, in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT acknowledged the achievement of the former VINSA executives and promised to work hard with her current executive to ensure that VINSA remain an active organization.

Anderson said: “Now it is time for VINSA to spread its wings and establish itself as a structured organisation willing

to go the extra mile for its members as well as the community within which it operates.”

Serving on the executive are: Herona Bute-Black, Vice President; Jeanette Fitz-Patrick, Secretary; Trereca Bruce, Assistant Treasurer/Secretary; Ronnise Henry, Treasurer; Rochard Ballah, Public Relations Officer; Kerry Stewart, Utech Representative; and Cylena Andrews, Cultural Entertainment Chairperson.

During the upcoming academic year, Anderson plans to embark on implementing a constitution for the organization. She noted that this would ensure accountability for everyone within VINSA, as well as greater participation through the formulation of various committees.

Among the plans that the executive

will pursue are a membership and charity drive, the development of a VINSA website, the introduction of a yearly overseas trip and fortnightly off campus weekend socials.
