This year, ten pan sides will contest the July 3rd 2008 Junior Pan Competition, but Knights expects this figure to double in the next few years.

At Wednesday’s final press conference of the CDC before Friday’s opening, Knights received a cheque for EC$30,000 from the St. Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC) to go towards the sponsorship of the competition.

This year’s Junior Pan finalists include Starlift, Sion Hill, Symphonix, Union Island Secondary School, Troumaca Primary School, Layou Government School, St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, Girls’ High School, and the CW Prescod Primary School.

Meanwhile five senior pan sides are slated for Dimanche Gras: Digicel Rhythmix, National Lotteries Authority Sion Hill, Sea Operations Starlift, Elite and Potential Steel Orchestra.

Digicel Rhythmix are the defending champions.
