Girls’ High School learn more about sea turtles



The Girls’ High School is the recipient of sea turtle education resource materials compliments the Fisheries Division.

On Tuesday, June 17th, at the Girls’ High School, Lucilne Edwards, Fisheries Conservation Officer, handed over a package comprised of ecological guides for both students and teachers, and a CD on endangered sea turtles of the Caribbean to the school. {{more}} This exercise is the first of many the Fisheries Division plans to undertake. It is expected that several other packages will be distributed to 50 primary and secondary schools throughout the country.

The Fisheries Division hopes that by distributing these materials, the level of public awareness of the need for sea turtle conservation, along with efforts that are being made by the National Sea Turtle Conservation programme, will be increased. The packages were made available by the Wider Caribbean sea turtle conservation network (WIDECAST).
