SVGTV bringing new programs for Carnival

In the heat of the Carnival season, SVGTV will be boosting it programming by bringing new entertainment programs to the big screen.{{more}}

The first is with ‘Virgin Traveller’ which commences on Thursday, 19th June at 9:10 p.m. It is hosted by Barbadian Brian Talmer and will allow viewers to experience food, culture, people and lifestyles of some of Virgin Atlantic’s destinations, Caribbean style. Four destinations: London, Sydney, South Africa and Hong Kong, will be featured in four episodes. Each episode will be aired on Thursdays for 4 weeks exclusively on SVGTV. According to Candice Sealey, Head of Sales & Marketing at the SVG Broadcasting Corporation, this is a great opportunity for viewers including the youngsters to learn about the way of life in international destinations.

This is closely followed by Island Neighbours which zooms into Vincentian homes from Wednesday 25th June. It was produced in conjunction with Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun Airlines and is an inter-island travel TV show, directed by Harry C. Hunter of “The Love Boat “ television series and co- Produced by Tim Cothren, former Producer at ABC TV’s “20/20” with Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs. It advises on the best places to go and things to do across the Eastern Caribbean; it also includes a feature about St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Attractions, hotels, activities and sites will be featured in the program.

Last but not least, is the premiering of the ‘The Warren Cassell Show’ in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The show is currently being viewed across 20 countries in the region and BEN TV in the UK but is exclusively available in SVG on SVGTV from Saturday July 12th. With an authentic Caribbean flavour, the Warren Cassell Show is a variety entertainment talk show recorded before a live studio audience and is set to entertain, educate, and thrill audiences with its dynamic lineup of guests (including interviews with local artistes such as Jamesy- P and Luta). Head of Programming at SVGBC, Maxian Harry, says that the show aims to be a forum to showcase the talent, products and skills of Caribbean people.

Sealey remarked that these new programs will provide huge marketing opportunities for businesses. She further announced that the new programs are a natural progression of SVGTV towards better programming. In addition to the acquired programming, original programming are on the cards also.

The new programs affirm a media business strategy to offer compelling and entertaining content in ways that best serve consumers and advertisers while creating value and establish direct relationships between advertisers and the audience in a creative content environment.
