It is often said that it is better to honour individuals for their contribution to society when they are still alive. With this in mind, INZLO (Interior Zone Literacy Organisation) held their first Honoring ceremony on Sunday, 4 May, at the Bethel Gospel Assembly North Union.{{more}}

The ceremony, which took the form of a praise and worship ceremony, saw 13 proud senior citizens, who were elegantly attired, receiving plaques of appreciation. This was in recognition for their service and contribution to the develop-ment of the Lowman’s Windward Community.

Soil technician Caiphas Wilson, Road Supervisor Hubert Williams and Catherine Simmons, a Seamstress, were just some of the persons who got their moment of glory.

FCIB’s Unsung Hero Jestina Charles, while delivering the feature address, urged the participants to be grateful to God for the wisdom and the skills they have. She advised them not to die with their talents but instead pass on knowledge to others. She told the honorees that they are not too old to help make a contribution to the community.

Charles encouraged them to ‘utilize their full potential to help somebody else to be greater than you are’. She concluded by emphasizing to the honourees that they are in great demand and they must never leave behind “anything you can do today for all the tomorrows”. (VM)
