CCLSVG continues the piracy fight


The CCLSVG Steering Committee which has been working diligently to lay the groundwork for the protection of rights of authors and composers of music and those in the music industry joins with the Commercial and Intellectual Property Office of St. Vincent & the Grenadines to express their appreciation for the efforts of WIPO and UNESCO as they celebrate two important dates on the IP calendar, (Copyright Day: April 23rd, 2008; World Intellectual Property Day: April, 26th, 2008).{{more}}

A release from CCLSVG says: “We recognise the importance of Books in the fight to promote literacy and an appreciation of writing and composing.”

UNESCO’s World Book and Copyright Day focuses on the importance of reading in developing a proactive and well informed society.

CCLSVG calls on all artistes and stakeholders in the industry to support the initiatives of the local IP office and to participate in their thrust to sensitize the public on issues relating to copyright protection and respect of intellectual property and creative endeavour.

“We look forward to participating in the whistle stop events scheduled for the weekend and will remain steadfast in our commitment to the development of a vibrant Vincentian music industry”, the release ended.
