Business persons meet to discuss challenges

The understanding that a number of issues: local, regional and international, are affecting various business places here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, was one of the main reasons behind the meeting of some local businesses on Tuesday at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.{{more}}

The session was chaired by President of the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce Jerry George, and sought to bring out common problems faced by businesses in different sectors and how they can be dealt with.

The more than 35 companies represented at the meeting, ranging from manufacturing, to services, sales and information technology, all agreed that there were some issues of concern that each of them could relate to.

These include the cost of fuel, raw material and in many cases skilled labour.

In an open floor setting, the managers, directors, human resources officers and owners, listened and shared their concerns with each other, and offered advice and inspiration.

This is just the first in a series of meetings that has been planned by the Chamber of Commerce, originally initiated by a number of business persons.(JJ)
