Police Officer and companion attacked


One of this country’s peacekeepers found himself in a near death experience, when a trip to Argyle turned into an attempted robbery/murder.{{more}}

On Saturday, January 12, 22-year-old Joel Williams, a constable in the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force received a gunshot to the right side of his face, when a masked gunman approached him and his female companion and demanded money.

According to reports, the assailant, who was wearing a mask, approached the vehicle occupied by Williams and his friend shortly after 9pm.

Following the demand for cash and a brief exchange of words, the would- be robber took a step back from the vehicle and opened fire on the off duty officer.

He then fled the scene on foot.

Williams was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, treated and discharged on Wednesday. He is reportedly doing well. Police are investigating.
