Community lights up Sion Hill

Community lights up Sion Hill

Despite the admission by Chairman of the Community Lighting Up Committee that they were not quite ready, the Sion Hill community came alive with the usual pomp and ceremony.{{more}}

And with only 75 percent of the lights in place for last Friday’s switching on of the lights, the organizers of the event and volunteers had lots to be proud of.

At the ceremony held before the over three thousand lights went on, Chairman of the Committee Leroy Llewellyn indicated that all lights were not in place because funds for the project were sourced late.

He, however, indicated that the remainder of the lights would be available before the end of the Christmas season.

Llewellyn thanked the persons who assisted in this year’s production, and urged all to take in the beauty of the community’s creation at every opportunity.

Friday night’s event heard brief remarks by Ministry of Culture representative Glenroy “Sulle” Caesar and featured caroling and skits from community groups. (JJ)
