“I have indicated to the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and my colleagues, as well as my constituency council executive, that I will be unavailable in the next elections.”

Browne indicated that a medical condition affecting his vocal cords is the reason for the decision.

While stressing that the condition is not malignant, he indicated that it is persistent and requires daily medication.

The former teacher, lecturer and president of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers’ Union began his political career in 1974 as a member of the Youlou United Liberation Movement, and is currently into his third term as the Parliamentary representative for West St. George.

He said in a media briefing at Cabinet Room yesterday, that he has no doubt that West St. George will remain a stronghold of the ULP. (JJ)
