Eight schools into Leo Club’s Reading competition finals


Eight schools are into the finals of the Leo Club of St. Vincent 9th Annual Primary Schools Reading Competition.

The competition spans 9 zones throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and targets Grade 5 students of the various primary schools to encourage reading.{{more}}

The Finals are scheduled for the 3rd November, 2007, at the Methodist Church Hall. The competition begins at 3 p.m.The finalists are: Owani Adams- Chateaubelair Methodist School; Terika Alexander- Belair Government; Rhea Hadley-Lauders Government School; Allena Hazell- Bequia Anglican Primary School; Richard John-Argyle Roman Catholic School; Kelsa Patrick-Langley Park Government School; Sherwin Peters- Kingstown Preparatory School; Darrianne Sergeant-Barrouallie Government School.

The competition is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, and is jointly sponsored by THE MUSTIQUE COMPANY and VINLEC.

This year, the LEO Club raises awareness in the primary schools in relation to the importance of “Conserving Our Wildlife”. The topics for the reading passages focus on four aspects of this country’s wildlife, including our National Bird and Leather-back Turtles.

The LEO Club Reading Competition is the Signature Project of the LEO Club St. Vincent and has received high reviews over the years for the impact it has on the young children of the country.
