TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO Planning and Development Minister Camille Robinson-Regis, who at the age of 46 gave birth to twin daughters some three months ago, fully intends to contest a Parliamentary seat in the next General Election.

Robinson, the Arouca South MP, said yesterday that she had already submitted her nomination papers to run on the ruling People’s National Movement ticket for the new Arouca/Maloney constituency.{{more}}

“I was the coordinator for the Arouca/Maloney constituency and they have nominated me as their candidate and I have accepted the nomination. So it’s already submitted, I am just waiting now to be screened and go through the party’s procedures,” Robinson-Regis said.

She said while she had no intention of doing anything that would jeopardise the well-being of her baby girls, retiring from politics had never been an option.

“Right now politics is my profession, so it would really mean giving up my profession and I have no intention of giving up my profession at this point. It is not only my profession it is my vocation.

“It’s what I love at this time and that doesn’t mean that I don’t love my children or the rest of my family, but it is what I feel I need to do at this time to serve my country.” (Trinidad Express)
