Entrepreneurs in this country have been advised not to depend on political favours from government for their businesses to survive; this counsel comes from Divisional Director of Coreas and Hazels Ltd, Joel Providence.{{more}}

Providence who was the feature speaker at the National Development Foundation (NDF) client awards ceremony and

cocktail held last Tuesday at the Methodist Church Hall, pointed out that businesses could be small and successful, but said that the owners should never think small.

He however said that governments needed to indicate how larger scale projects such as the Argyle International Airport would benefit small businesses so they could take advantage of these projects.

The Director emphasised that competence, capacity and a sense of competitiveness were also needed to ensure that this country had quality as its flagship.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of NDF, Hermina Neehall said that the organization needed to recognise the successes and challenges of their clients hence the reason for the gala event. Neehall also thanked funding agencies such as Stabex, the International Development Fund, the government of the Republic of China on Taiwan for their assistance.

The entrepreneurs who were recognised by the NDF were Dave Cain, Joan Ann John, Lawrence Burke, Nichole Primus, Hoskin “Pa Pa Spoon” Williams, Patrice James, Malcolm ‘“Jack” Knights, Glenmore Hanson and Libby Bruce, Metalyn and Sanford Hoyte, Rosilta Sprott, Lorna and Timothy Edwards and Tyrone Forde.

Minister of Telecommunications, Dr Jerrol Tompson and Vice President of NDF Philmore Isaacs also addressed the gathering.
