The three-race series for 30 or more locally built double-enders from Bequia and other Grenadine islands continues to be one of the highlights of the Regatta. Huge crowds of enthusiastic supporters and spectators gather at every available vantage point to see the participants demonstrate their legendary skill and seamanship. All signs this year are that there will be a bumper turnout, with the Bequia fleet being joined by boats coming up from Canouan, Mayreau and Carriacou.

Last year’s record-breaking turnout of 40 yachts emphatically confirmed Bequia Regatta’s popularity in the yacht racing and cruising community. In particular, the J24 Class, first introduced in 2005, and since 2006 with own specially designed courses, continues to be a major draw for enthusiasts. With a good number boats already pre-registered through the internet, the Bequia Sailing Club is looking forward to another great Regatta with boats anticipated from St. Vincent, Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada, Martinique, Trinidad, the USA and Europe.

With loyal sponsors St. Vincent & the Grenadines Ministry of Tourism, Sport and Youth, Heineken (St. Vincent Brewery) , Mount Gay and Pepsi (Bottlers Ltd. St. Vincent), Digicel, Mountain Top Water, the Frangipani Hotel and Tradewinds Cruise Club all back on board for 2007, the Bequia Sailing Club is predicting another Easter weekend packed with highly competitive yacht racing, thrilling double-ender action and an extra helping of Bequia’s famous hospitality to help celebrate 26 years of Bequia Easter Regatta.
