Wanted urgently, 60 primary school teachers!

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves has enlisted the support of the President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers’ Union to source 60 teachers make up the 100 needed to read for a Certificate in Learning Support, with emphasis on literacy and numeracy.

The course, which is organized by Cambridge Education in the United Kingdom and the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, is aimed at training teachers to detect children with learning challenges and to create remedial programs to assist them.{{more}}

Dr Gonsalves, speaking at the official site opening ceremony of the Barrouallie Secondary School last Tuesday said that it was crucial that teachers grab hold of the opportunities to learn.

As he highlighted his ULP administration’s advancements in the field of education, Dr Gonsalves said that the budget for the training of nurses at the nursing school has increased from $400,000 to $4 million

annually.

“Judge us by our works,” he said.

Dr Gonsalves also encouraged police officers to take advantage of the opportunities that are available to them.

“Get you CXCs, get your admission into the universities and come to the Comrade to fix up the finances,” he told the police officers present.
