The Global African Congress, an international organization of African descendants, is being spearheaded here by Andre Liverpool.

“We are trying to have activities which reflect the whole African culture. Next year would be the 200th year since the abolition of slavery and we are setting the ground work for that,” Liverpool expressed.

Friday’s event saw a number of culture enthusiasts coming together to pay homage to their forefathers and the liberation from slavery.

The cultural package saw performances and speeches from Cecil “Blazer” Williams, Jomo Thomas, Yaphato, Istan and others who set the scene for next year’s celebrations for the 200th anniversary since the abolition of slavery.
